In Romans 1-4 we see the basics of the gospel, which answer basic questions about how to have a relationship with God; in other words, how to be “saved.”
- Who made us, and to whom are we accountable? (God)
- What is our problem? In other words, are we in trouble and why? (People)
- What is God’s solution to that problem? How has he acted to save us from it? (Christ)
- How do I—myself, right here, right now—how do I come to be included in that salvation? What makes this good news for me and not just for someone else? (Response)
Today’s sermon focuses on the first question, understanding more about “God” in relation to the gospel, His good news to us. It is based on many different Scriptures, including Romans 3:23-25a, Romans 1:19-20, Genesis 1:26-27, Exodus 34:6-7, and Romans 11:33-36.
We consider that:
- God Exists
- God is Creator
- God is Holy and Righteous
- God is the Greatest One in the Universe
